I thought I would send a note regarding our latest addition to the Fuller & Johnson Museum.

Stan Johnson and I purchased a “brand new” Fuller & Johnson 1-1/2 HP Farm Pump Engine, still in the original crate with the factory shipping tags still attached. The engine had been shipped from the Fuller & Johnson factory in Madison, Wis., to the Hoffman Coal Co. in Harrisburg, Pa., in 1935. The engine has never been removed from the crate.

We don’t know the whole story of where all the 1-1/2 Fuller & Johnson has been. We were not aware of the engine’s existence until our good friend Preston Foster, curator of the Coolspring Power Museum, saw it at an auction at the Cabin Fever Expo, York, Pa. Preston purchased the engine for Stan and me and took it home with him.

We picked the Farm Pump Engine up at Coolspring in June 2011 and brought it back to Wisconsin and to its new home in the Fuller & Johnson Museum at the Badger Steam & Gas Engine Club grounds near Baraboo. We have it on display there and, of course, it will not be removed from the original crate.
